Cristina Fernández to be ambassador of the XIII World Forestry Congress (WFC)

The President of the Republic of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, accepted the role of  Ambassador of the XIII WFC 2009 during the announcement ceremony in San Fernando, Buenos Aires of the renewal of law 25.080 for the promotion of planted forests.

Before the assembled foresters and inhabitants of the Delta of Paraná, the President accepted the invitation of the President of WFC Organizing Committee and Secretary for Agriculture, Carlos Cheppi, to promote the largest international meeting on global forestry issues to be held in Buenos Aires from 18 to 23 October.

“For the Argentineans it is very important that the President take leadership in promoting the Congress. We will receive over 4,000 people from all over the world, who will meet the challenge of identifying the potential and opportunities for forestry sector work in Argentina and other countries. Planted forests are an example, they generate 500 thousand jobs and represent exports of around one billion dollars” stated the Secretary General of the XIII WFC, Leopoldo Montes.
